Address 3/F, Caltex House, 258 Hennessy Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong Waste is the inevitable by-product of economic and human activities and population growth. Its growing volume is not only a tough issue for Hong Kong, but a shared problem among developed and developing countries all over the world. In Hong Kong, the intake capacity of landfills will be exhausted in a few years. And landfills giving off harmful gases and causing pollution to underground water and soil and other hazards are not helping the environment and the economy. The consistent increase in waste is a development of concern for all of us especially when careless consumption of environmental resources leading to wastage is one of the major culprits of the problem.
In the Mainland, the authority has been pushing for "removing hazards from and reducing the quantity and recycling" of wastes. As for Hong Kong, certain policies have been implemented like the polluter-pays-principle (PPP) and charging shoppers a levy for consumption of plastic bags. However, these measures have not had strong effects.
To contribute to helping Hong Kong and mainland China resolve the issue of waste treatment, Lo's Group has been aggressive in looking for opportunities to develop advanced environmental protection technologies guided by the aspirations of mainland China in waste treatment.
Over the years, the Group has continuously looked for technologies in waste separation, and organic and inorganic waste recycling, with the aim of helping to relieve pressure on the landfills in Hong Kong and extend their lifespan. Today, increasing aware of the need to protect the environment, members of the public are not only supportive of the government in enhancing quality of the environmental, but are also more active in participating in waste reduction and environmental protection activities. The Group will work together with the people of Hong Kong in improving the living environment of the city.
The solid waste treatment plant in Shuyang County, Jiangsu Province of the Group is employing the patented ITAD technology which has allowed it to put out highly effective environmental products at low cost without generating waste water, toxic gases or noise nuisance during the process. The Group believes ITAD technology is an effective solution to the waste issue in particular the problems caused by organic wastes.
At the tireless effort of the management, the Group became a joint-venture partner of a well-known company in the Mainland in 2006. The joint venture employs the patented Hydroclave steam sterilization technology, the non-incineration technology approved by the State Environmental Protection Administration of the country for treating medical waste. The Group plans to extend the technology to cover other mainland cities in the years ahead.
By exerting its best in developing new technologies, the Group aims to support efforts on environmental protection, improving the living environment of people and achieving sustainable development in Hong Kong and Mainland China. We firmly believe the "Green Revolution" is going to transform the world we live in, making it a better place for the good health of all, as well as bringing to us abundant business opportunities.
